Are you ready for the Ferme Toer Trail? Maybe you ran it before, maybe it's your first time. With the Runners' lab tips, you'll be well prepared, so you can fully enjoy your run through nature.
Trail running shoes
The Ferme Toer Trail is mostly unpaved. This means mud and uneven surfaces. To handly these conditions more easily, trail shoes are a must. You'll also need to tackle some elevation gain, where the grip of trail shoes - especially when running downhill - will come in handy.
A nice extra: Altra will be present with test shoes that you can try during your Ferme Toer Trail. However, they are limited, so make sure to bring your own shoes as well.
Hydration systems
During a trail run, there are often fewer aid stations compared to traditional road races. That's why it's important to bring your onw fluids. There are different hydration systems that help you stay properly hydrated during your efforts. The most common are soft flasks or running vests. Vests also provide space for other essentials like bars, gels, or jacket.
Warm, breathable clothes
In February, it might be still very cold. Don't underestimate it. Even though you'll be running, wind, possibble rain, and maybe even freezing temperatures can make it feel very cold. The best advise we can give: dress up in layers. Start with a baselayer, add a T-shirt, and finish with a (waterproof) rain jacket or vest.
Sports nutrition
Are you going for the longer distances? Then extra energy along the way is definitely a must. A gel, bar, or sports drink is not unnecessary. And for after the finish, a recovery drink can prevent sore muscles the following day.
