Trail running shoes

The Runners' lab trail Godefroy Bouillon is off-road. That means mud and uneven, technical surfaces. To handle these conditions, trail running shoes are a must. You'll also have to conquer a significant elevation gain,  where - especially on the descents - the grip of trail shoes is valuable.

Hydration systems

The Runners' lab trail Godefroy Bouillon is a cupless event. This means there will be no plastic cups at the aid stations, so make sure to bring your own soft cup or drinking bottle.

From the 35-kilometer distance, a minimum water supply of 1 liter is mandatory. An easy solution is a running backpack with a bladder, or two 500ml soft flasks. Most running vests have front pockets for soft flasks, giving you quick access to your drinks along the way.

Breathable clothing

June 6 can already be quite warm. Light-weight, breathable clothing is therefore no luxury. However, it's still Belgium where the weather can change suddenly. That's why it's best to be prepared for rain or a coole breeze. The best advice we can give: dress up in layers. Start with a baselayer, add a T-shirt, and finish with a (waterproof) rain jacket or vest.

Especially if you're taking on the 75 or 100 kilometer distance: layering is strongly recommended. The start of your trail run will be at night. You may appreciate that extra layer in the first kilometers, which you'll likely want to remove after sunrise.

Sports nutrition

Trail Godefroy Bouillon offers long distances, where extra energy along the way is truly essential. An energy gel, bar or sports drink is therefore highly recommended. In addition, from the 35km distance onwards, it is mandatory to carry a food reserve with you.

Headlamps

Are you taking on the 75 or 100 kilometers? Then you'll be starting at night, in the dark, which means a required headlamp. At Runners' lab, we offer a range of headlamps that are comfortable to wear while running, and provide sufficient light to illuminate your path. The big advantage of a headlamp is that the light moves with your line of sight.
