Are you ready for the New Balance Zolder Breakfast run? Is it your first time running it? With the Runners' lab tips, you'll be well prepared, so you can enjoy your run to the fullest.
Hybrid running shoes or trail running shoes
The New Balance Zolder Breakfast Run combines asphalt with unpaved off-road trails. This means that, in addition to paved roads, you'll also encounter forest, sand, or mud. Especially on the 10 and 15km distances, some sections might be quite muddy. A bit of extra grip is therefore recommended. Trail shoes or hybrid running shoes (shoes that sit between a regular road shoe and a trail shoe) are welcome.
A nice extra: New Balance will be there with test shoes that you can try out during your Zolder Breakfast run. However, availability is limited. So be sure to bring your own shoes as well. You can also test the shoes before or after the race.
Hydration systems
The New Balance Zolder Breakfast Run is a cupless event. This means there will be no plastic cups at the aid stations. Please bring your own reusable cup. You can also purchase one for €3 at the event. There are other drink system you can use to carry your drinks along the way as well, such as soft flasks or running vests.
Warm, breathable clothes
January is still winter. Don't underestimate the cold. Even though you'll be running, wind, possible rain, and maybe freezing temperatures can make it feel very cold. The best advice we can give: dress up in layers. Start with a baselayer, add a t-shirt, and finish with a (waterproof) rain jacket or vest.
Sports nutrition
Extra energy along the way can be a real advantage. Although there will be aid stations on the course, a prepared runner is worth two. Bring your own gels, bar, or sports drink, so you'll get through the elevation changes and trail sections successfully.
Would you like personal advice on the right shoes and accessories? Then make your appointment at one of our Runners' lab stores.
