ADIDAS was founded by the brothers Adolf and Rudolf Dassler in Germany. Following a rivalry between the two brothers, a competing brand was also established: Puma.
The iconic three stripes
ADIDAS is instantly recognizable by its three stripes. These vertical stripes form the logo of the brand’s performance line, which includes its running apparel. Fun fact: adidas bought the rights to the three stripes from the Finnish brand Karhu for the modest sum of €1.600 and two bottles of whisky.
The Boost technology
ADIDAS Boost technology became booming business in 2013. With this innovation, adidas was the first brand to develop a midsole foam that delivered exceptional energy return. To create Boost, adidas collaborated with the German chemical company BASF. Today, the Boost technology can be found in many adidas running shoes.
Sustainable production
ADIDAS is strongly committed to sustainability. The brand recycles plastic waste collected from the oceans and transforms it into clothing and footwear.
